Educational Activities

Sri Sharada Peetham has been serving the needs of the masses in the educational sector for about half a century now.

The Peetham supports financially and logistically the running of many schools in and around Sringeri. The children of Sringeri have been immensely benefitted by Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Girls School and Vidya Nidhi Knowledge Centre for imparting free computer education. A Science Centre is being established in Sringeri with Indian Space Research Organisation.

The Jnanodaya School and Jnanodaya Pre-University College in Bangalore, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, is a premier school run by the Peetham. Established in 1988 by Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji, it has a strength of around 2000 students. The institution aims at providing value based and quality education and adopts a holistic approach for overall development. It is equipped with the Kanada Science Laboratory, Aryabhatta Mathematics Laboratory, Panini Language Laboratory, Jagudguru Sri Sri Sachchidananda Shiuabhinava Narasimha Bharathi Information Centre, and the Raman Club to nurture scientific temper. Sharada Rotary Children’s Library at Shankarapuram, Bangalore is a unique library for kids and children. The Jnanodaya School at Dombivili, Maharashtra and Bharati Vidyalaya at Chennai also function under the auspices of the Peetham.

Sri Sharada Peetham has also laid special emphasis in fostering education at Kalady, the birthplace of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Sree Sankara College functions with the objective of helping students achieve excellence in higher education, with a stress on creativity, personal values and human development. The Adi Sankara Trust established under the patronage of present Sringeri Jgadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji expanded the educational activities by starting Sree Sarada Vidyalaya (CBSE Higher Secondary School) in the year 1993, Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology in the year 2000 and Adi Shankara Training College in 2005. The Trust runs these four educational institutions (including Sree Sankara College) to nurture the Kalady as a cultural citadel with a bearing on knowledge dissemination and community development. PNNM Ayurveda Medical College at Shoranur in Kerala functions under the auspices of the Peetham.

Recognizing the growing significance of value orientation to business in particular and education in general, the Peetham sensed the need for establishing a management institute which would strive to impart the lofty ideals of character building to future corporate managers. The resulting institution established at New Delhi, Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management-Research began functioning in 1996. The institute offers two years full time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) programme with outstanding focus on Indian ethos duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

  • The Self (Atma) is never born nor does It ever die; neither does It cease to exist after having once existed nor does the Self come into existence, like the body, having not existed before. Unborn, eternal, It undergoes no change whatsoever and is primeval; It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed. Bhagavan Sri Krishna on Significance of God
  • A person who hears about the condemnation of another incurs sin. What need be said about the sin incurred by a man who actually engages in nit picking? Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada on Prabodha Sudhakara
  • If you pray with faith and devotion, the Lord will certainly listen to your earnest prayers. Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamigal on Significance of God
  • Our nation and its culture have a hoary past and we should all be proud of it. Mere aping of the West is not beneficial for us. For example, care of aged parents is something that has come down to us traditionally and we must never neglect this duty by imbibing concepts of some free societies, wherein concern for one’s own parents is at low ebb. Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamigal on Significance of God
  • It is a great blunder not to make proper use of the body and mind that has been given to us by God. Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal on Significance of God's Names
