Anugraha Bhashanam at Chennai (Guruvandanam)

On Oct 26, 2012 the devotees of Chennai organized a Guruvandanam function to reverentially thank the Jagadguru for gracing Chennai for four and half months.

Expressing that it was a great joy for both the devotees and Himself that after 52 years a Sringeri Jagadguru could observe Chaturmasya in Chennai, the Jagadguru touched upon many things in His Anugraha Bhashanam. The Mahaswamiji spoke about the glory and importance of Sri Adi Shankaracharya and the Guru Parampara; the lessons we can learn from our Shastras and Scriptures; and urged everyone to imbibe and practice at least one teaching of Sri Shankaracharya.

The Jagadguru consoled everyone that although He was leaving Chennai soon, He was very pleased with their devotion and Guru Seva, and would pray for their welfare during the Chandramoulishwara Puja every day.

The Chairman of the Chennai Vijaya Yatra committee, Sri A. Krishnamoorthy, led by example and quickly came to be respected and admired by everyone for his leadership and attention to detail to ensure that everyone had the best spiritual experience. The Jagadguru had special words of blessing for Sri A. Krishnamoorthy and said that per the divine inspiration received from His Guru and Goddess Sharada, He was honoring Sri Krishnamoorthy with the title of “Guru Bhakta Ratnam” The text of the title was then read aloud in both Sanskrit and Tamil. The Jagadguru then honored Sri A. Krishnamoorthy.

  • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”. If people first feel that they are Indians and only then think of divisions, the nation will have great prosperity and the divisive forces will not be operative as they are today.
