Kumbhabhisheka at Sringeri Shankara Math, Girinagar, Bengaluru

On May 27, 2022, Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam performed the Kumbhabhisheka of the Girinagar Sringeri Shankara Math Sri Sharadamba temple.

Earlier the Jagadguru was reverentially taken in procession to the temple amidst Veda Ghosha, Vadya Ghosha etc. The Jagadguru first inaugurated the golden door of the temple and then performed elaborate Kumbhabhisheka to Goddess Sri Sharadamba. Devotees chanted the entire Soundaryalahari stotram after the Abhisheka. When the curtain was drawn post the Alankara, the blessed gathering was awestruck to behold Sri Sharadamba glittering in gold saree surrounded by a golden Mandapa and Prabhavali. Then the Jagadguru went to the nearby shrines, offered a golden Kavacha to Sri Ganapati, followed by Mantra Pushpa and Arati to Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpadacharya. The Jagadguru also performed the Vimana gopura Kumbhabhisheka.

Sri L.A. Ravi Subramanya, MLA of Basavanagudi constituency was also present for the event and obtained the blessings of the Jagadguru.

In the Guruvandana Sabha held after the Kumbhabhisheka, the Jagadguru blessed one and all with an Anugraha Bhashanam. The Jagadguru remarked,

“It is very difficult to have the direct Darshan of Jaganmata and whoever is blessed with Her Darshan would be immersed in the Soundaryalahari of the Goddess and would never want to come out of that state. Similarly, today in this Sringeri Shankara Math at Girinagar, after the Alankara was done, we did not want to leave the Sannidhi of the Goddess.”

The Jagadguru then gave Darshan to all the assembled devotees. It is to be remembered that the Shilanyasa of this temple was performed by the 35th Acharya of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji on November 16, 1975. The 36th Acharya, Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam performed the Bhoomi Puja on April 6, 1992 and the Pratishtha Kumbhabhisheka on February 24, 1995.
