Jagadguru performs Ganga Puja on the commencement of Tungabhadra Pushkara

Ubhaya Jagadgurus performing Dipaprajvalana on the auspicious commencement of Tungabhadra Pushkara.

On the occasion of commencement of the Tungabhadra Pushkara, the Ubhaya Jagadgurus graced the temple of Sri Vidyashankara and performed Dipaprajvalana or lighting of the lamp, marking the auspicious beginning of the 12 day long celebration.

The idol of Sri Varahamurti, which graces the Northwestern facade of the temple was decorated for the event.

Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam then proceeded to the Northern bank of the Tungabhadra river and performed Ganga Puja.

Silver Kalashas (pots) filled with the sanctified waters of the Tungabhadra, which were worshipped by the Jagadguru during the Ganga Puja, were then carried to the shrines of Sri Sharadamba, Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Sri Vidyashankara and Sri Bhavani Malahanikareshwara to the accompaniment of Nadaswara-Vadya. Abhisheka with the sanctified waters was then performed to the murtis in the respective temples.
