Day 3 of Rajagopuram Kumbhabhishekam


 

The heavens greeted the dawn of the third day of the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka Celebrations at Sringeri with a heavy downpour.

Kotikumkumarchana at the temple of Sri Sharadamba

The Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji graced the temple of Sri Sharadamba at around 9:30 AM and after having darshan of the Goddess, remained in the temple until the completion of the ongoing recitation of the Lalita Sahasranama Archana. Having completed the 10 Lakhs Kumkuma Archana on the first day, the  Ritwiks continued the Archana for the second day today.

In the evening the Jagadguru graced the shrine of Sri Sharadamba and remained in the shrine till the completion of the recitation of the Sahasranama; which was in progress.

Chaturveda Parayanam and Suryanamaskara Parayanam

Parayana of the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharva-veda had begun yesterday along with the commencement of Ati-rudra Maha-Yaga. This Parayana of the four Vedas will continue till June 11 2014. The Jagadguru graced the Paramparika Sabha Bhavanam and blessed the Vedic scholars who were immersed in Veda-Parayanam.

Vedic Suryanamaskaram is also being performed daily at the Parmparika Sabhabhavanam, to invoke the blessings of Suryanarayana Swami for the welfare of all. The Jagadguru also blessed the Ritwik performing this ritual.

Atirudra Mahayaga

The Jagadguru graced the the specially erected Yagashala, in front of Vidyashankara temple, in the morning and observed the Rudra chanting of the Ritwiks participating in the Atirudra Mahayaga and blessed them. The Japa started at about 7:00AM in the morning and went on till noon. In the evening Kramarchana to Lord Uma-Maheshvara commenced at around 4:30PM and concluded with Ashtavadhana seva at around 6:30 PM.

Cultural Programme.

As part of the 3rd day Celebrations of the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka, the cultural programme featured a Violin and Veena concert by Sri R Kumaresh and Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh. The Jagadguru blessed them with the prestigious title of Asthana Vidwan and Asthana Vidushi of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham respectively. Speaking during the occasion after reading the citation, the CEO & Administrator Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar mentioned that several renowned musicians had been bestowed with this title earlier, this was the first instance where a Dampati was conferred the title on the same day.

Day 4 Announcement

  • Commencement of ceremonies connected with Kumbhabhishekam of the Rajagopuram at around 9:00 AM.
  • Atrirudra Japa and Kramarchana in the morning and evening respectively at the specially erected Yagashala near Vidyashankara Temple
  • Kotikumkumarchana at the Temple of Sri Sharadamba
  • Vedaparayanam in morning.
  • Carnatic recital by Vidushi Smt. Bombay Jayashri & party as a part of the Cultural programme; in the evening.
