Day 4 of Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka

With 3 days to go for the grand Kumbhabhisheka of the Rajagopuram at Sringeri, the enthusiasm and vigor amongst devotees is reaching a crescendo.  Day 4 of the Kumbhabhisheka Celebrations began with the commencement of ceremonies as part of the Kumbhabhisheka.

Ceremonies pre-cursor to the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka

At 9 am on 4th June 2014, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji graced the Paramparika Bhavanam in front of Sri Sharadamba Temple at 9AM where the Chatur Veda Parayanam and Vaidika Suryanamaskaram is taking place. With the Jagadguru’s arrival, the Mahasankalpa for the ceremonies that are part of the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhisheka and the Thorana Ganapati Yantra Pratishtha took place. The big list of ceremonies connected to Rajagopura Kumbhabhisheka include Vastu-mandala Devata Puja and Homa, Sarvatobhadra mandala Devata Puja, Rakshoghna Homa, Navagraha Homa, Agni uttaranam, Shanti homa, Bimba shuddhi Sthapanam, Purushasukta nyasam, Mantra Nyasam, Kalasha Sthaapanam, Shikharadhivasa Homa and Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Homa.The ceremonies related to the Thorana Ganapati temple include Sri Mahaganapati Yantra Pratishthapanam, Sri Ganesha Purana Parayanam, Mahaganapati Moola Mantra Japa, Tarpanam, Sahasranama Archana and Sri Mahaganapati Homa.

The Jagadguru then blessed the Ritwiks assigned for these ceremonies with a Purnaphalam during the  Ritwik varanam. The Tantri of the Sringeri Math, Veda Brahma Sri Tangirala Seetharama Sharma was given the charge as Pradhana Acharya, and Veda Brahma Sri Vinayaka Udupa was assigned for Sri Ganesha Purana Parayanam.

Kotikumkumarchana Continues

From the Paramparika Bhavanam the Jagadguru went to Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada Sannidhi and had Darshan. The Jagadguru then came to Sri Sharadamba Sannidhi and after having the Darshan of Goddess Sharadamba, remained in the temple till the completion of ongoing Lalita Sahasranama Parayana as part of the Koti Kumkumarchana. Having completed chanting total of 20 lakh Naamas on the first two days of Kumkuma Archana, the Ritwiks continued the Archana for the third day today with utmost sincerity and devotion. The Jagadguru once again came to Sri Sharadamba Sannidhi in the evening, after the blessing the musicians and listening to the music for a few minutes. Everyone present noted the joy in the countenance of the Jagadguru as the chanting of the Namas, that not only praise the Goddess but also are filled with the nectar of the Advaita, reverberated inside the temple.

Atirudra Mahayaga

From the Sharadamba Sannidhi, the Jagadguru visited the Atirudra Yagashala in front of Sri Vidyashankara temple and listened to the Rudra chanting of the Ritwiks of the Mahayaga. The Parayanam started at 7 am in the morning and went on till noon. The Rudra Kramarchana started by 4:30 pm and ended with Ashtavadhana Seva & Mahamangalarati by 6:30 pm.

Day 5 Announcement

  • Religious functions connected with Kumbhabhisheka by 9AM.
  • Atirudra parayana in the Morning and Rudrakrama Archana in the evening at the specially erected Yagashala in front of Sri Vidyashankara temple.
  • Chaturveda Parayanam and Vaidika Surya Namaskaram in the morning
  • Kotikumkumarchana at the shrine of Goddess Sharadamba
  • Evening Cultural programme by Vidwan Sri. Vijaya Shiva & Party.
