Kalabhairava Ashtami


Kalabhairava Ashtami was observed at Sringeri with Sri Kalabhairava being worshipped by Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam.

Jagadguru Sri Sri Sannidhanam performed Abhisheka to Sri Kalabhairava accompanied to the sonorous chanting of Sri Rudra, Purusha Sookta, and Mantras from the Mahanarayana Upanishad. Rudra Sookta, Vishnu Sookta and Pavamana Sookta from the Rig Veda were also chanted by the Panditas of the Math as well as students of the Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala. 

Earlier in the afternoon, Jagadguru Sri Sri Sannidhanam graced the Poornahuti of Kalabhairava Homa.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam was present during the Mahamangalarati to Sri Kalabhairava.

Later in the evening, Deepotsava was celebrated at the temple in the divine presence of Sri Sannidhanam. The entire temple complex was beautifully lit and the event concluded with Mahamangalarati, Ashtavadhana Seva and the chanting of Kalabhairava ashtakam composed by the 33rd Acharya of the Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji.
