Varuna Japam and Homam conducted Mumbai Sringeri Shankara Math


 

With the Benign Blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri Varuna Japam and  Homam was performed on Sunday, the 12th August 2012 praying Parjanya and Varuna Devataas for bountiful rain this year also not only in Mumbai but also throughout Bharata desam.

From 8.30 am Japam was commenced by learned pandits of all the Four Vedas, Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana after invoking   Prajanya and Varuna devataas  in 8 kalasams.  After the Japam, abhishekam was performed on a Shiva Lingam. Thereafter Homam was performed  by reciting all the four vedas.  Around 12 Noon after Maha Mangala Aaarathi, pooja was performed in a pushkarani (specially built tank in the compound of the temple) and the the holy water from the Kalasams was added to the water in the Pushkarani.  After reciting the specific prayers, all the devotees present were requested to pray simultaneously  Varuna Bhagavan for more rain.
