Samskrita Dinam celebrations at Mumbai Sringeri Math


 

Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri  Sri Bharati Mahaswamiji  during the Vijaya Yatra 2007 observed Chaturmasya at Sri Sringeri Math, Chembur, Mumbai and also observed Samskrita Dinam.  Since then the Vidyartis of Sri Abhinava Vidyateertha Veda Samskrita Pathashala at the Chembur Math commenced observing this Samskrita Dinamevery year.

This year the Samskrita Dinam was observed on Sunda, the 23rd of September 2012. Dharmapracharakar Sri A. S. Gopalakrishnan, presided over the function, Sri Ganesh Kumar, famous Abhang Singer was the Guest of Honour and DR. (SMT) Gauri Mahulikar, Former Head of the Dept. of Samskritam, Mumbai University was the Chief Guest.

Shri A.S.Gopalakrishnan conveyed to the audience that Samskrita bhasha is not a dead Bhasha and it is Vedic Bhasha and also the mother of all Indian languages.  He stressed the importance of people of all walks of life should try and learn this language.

Shri Ganesh Kumar observed that to retain our Indian culture all should learn this language and appreciated the efforts of Sri Sringeri Math to propagate this language. He requested all the people to make use of this facility at the Math and learn the language.

Dr.(Smt) Gauri Mahulikar,M.A. PhD, Former Head of the Dept. of Samskrita in Mumbai University,  in her address expressed her happiness to note that various activities undertaken by the Math, such as, veda, samskrita, ithihasa,  and sangeetha classes.  She also insisted the people to make best use of this facility and not only learn Samskrita and spread this Vedic and ancient language.

Vidyartis of Sri Sharada Bala Kendra rendered a small dance drama programme on Krishna Leela. Shri Ganesh Kumar distributed the ceritificates to Samskrita Bharati students who passed Geetha Shobana examinations.

Special announcement was made by the Math that beginning Vijayadasami day, Samskrita will be taught in English and Marathi medium for beginners.

The Samskrita Dinam was well attended by the public and also vidyartis of the Patashala.
