Sri Shankara consecrated the temple of Sri Kalikamba temple in the north of Sringeri on the Bangalore road.

It is a small shrine built in the Malnad style of Architecture with wooden and tiled roof. There is a small garbhagriha, and a pradakshina patha (circumambulating path) within the shrine.

Sri Kalikamba

Devi Kalikamba , a militant form of  the Goddess is worshipped as the guardian deity in the north for Sringeri.

The beautiful form of the Goddess in the garbagriha is seen seated in padmasana with four arms, holding trishula, damaru, a khadga and a cup.

The wall of the pradakshina patha is filled with framed pictures of various gods and goddesses. There is a huge life size framed Sri Chakra in silken cloth on the right side of the garbhagriha wall. Perhaps these images must have been collected overa period of time, given by the devotees. It is customary in our country to hand over the pictures, saligaramas, Sri Chakras and other deities when the worship is not continued at home.

The annual festival for the Goddess in conducted on a grand scale in the month of Margashirsha on the Poornima day. A special Puja is also performed by the Jagadguru. As a part of the festivities Shata chandi homa and deepotsava are performed.
