Mahashivaratri 2010 celebrations at Sringeri February 15, 2010

‘Mahashivaratri’ or the Holy night of Lord Shiva was celebrated in accordance with customs and traditions of the Math in a grand manner. The week-long Shivaratri celebrations concluded with the Teppotsava being conducted on the Tunga River on 15th February 2010 at 7:00 P.M. in the August presence of the Jagadguru Shankaracharya. Tirthahalli Camp of the Jagadguru February 5, 2010

Tirthahalli has been graced by the visit of the His Holiness, Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji. The entire town of Tirthahalli had assembled to receive the Jagadguru who was then taken in the Adda Pallaki golden palanquin from the Gayatri Mandira to the temple of Goddess Marikamba, where the Jagadguru had Darshan. The Mahaswamiji delivered an Anugraha Bhashanam and stressed the importance of Dharma.

Sri Shankara Special School launches “Sunshine” January 18, 2010

On 18th January 2010, the Shankara Special School launched a new program ‘SUNSHINE’, with the support of Orange Business Services.The ‘Sunshine’ program aims to improve the lives of 70 underprivileged young women, including 30 with special needs by providing them vocational training in the following areas: pottery, candle making, glass painting and tailoring with embroidery.
