Grand Inauguration of “Shankara Giri”


On the auspicious Swarna Mahotsava, 50th year of Sannyasa Sweekara of Sringeri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, Ashwayuja Krishna Dvadashi (10-11-2023), to pay the gratitude for the welfare that Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya had done for the mankind, a 32 foot granite statue was inaugurated and worshipped by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji and Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekahara Bharati Mahaswamiji at Shankara-giri in Sringeri. Also the  figures of His four primary disciples including Sri Sureshwaracharya (the first Acharya of Sringeri) were worshopped and inaugurated. A 12 foot statue of the 12th Acharya of Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Vidyaranya Mahaswamiji who is well-known for having founded the Vijayanagara empire, penned many great works including the commentaries of the four Vedas and Shankara Digvijayam. was also inaugurated and worshipped. As part of the Mahotsava in addition to these special woships and inauguration, many Dharmic activities for the welfare of mankind including Ati Rudra Mahayajna and Sahasra Chandi Mahayajna took place in the Jagadguru’s divine presence. The hillock also features a museum, state-of-the-art auditorium and an amphitheatre. 

Parayana of Prasthana Traya Bhashyas, written by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, was  performed by renowned scholars of Vedanta at Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya Sannidhi.
