Asthana Vidwan conferred President’s Certificate of Honour in Sanskrit


 

Vidwan Sri G Mahabaleshwara Bhat, Aasthaana Vidwan of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam, Dakshinaamnaaya Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri was awarded the President’s Certificate of Honour towards contribution to the Sanskrit language. Hon. President of India, Sri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Honour on the scholar in a special function organised at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on March 11 2016.

Born in a humble family to Sri Govinda Bhat and Smt. Ganga in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka, he was inspired by his father, a Sanskrit poet, to pursue traditional learning. He went on to study the Vyakarana Shastra from Mahamahopadhyaya N Ranganatha Sharma & Mahamahopadhyaya NT Srinivasa Iyengar, Alankara Shastra from Mahamahopadhyaya Bhalachandra Shastri and Vedanta Shastra from Mahamahopadhyaya K Krishna Jois.

He is a renowned scholar in Samskrita Vyakarana Shastra with more than three and a half decades of service in teaching and research.

He has been deliberating on many abstruse topics in Vyakarana Shastra in many Vidwat Sabhas including the prestigious Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha held at the Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri. He was one of the first to be handpicked by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam for the “Suvarna Anguleeyaka Sammaan”, a prestigious honour for his contributions in the Vidwat Sabha.

He has also published many research papers and authored books to facilitate easy learning of Sanskrit and Vyakarana Shastra.
