Mahashivaratri puja to Sri Chandramoulishwara

Mahashivaratri was observed at Sringeri by the Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji on the 27th of February 2014. In the afternoon, the Jagadguru arrived at the ancient shrine of Sri Malahanikareshwara at around 11:30 AM and commenced special Puja to Sri Malahanikareshwara at around 12:30 PM after worshipping Stambha Ganapati. Lord Malahanikareshwara was worshipped with Phala-Panchamrita Abhisheka and Rudrabhisheka. The special Puja concluded with Puja and Maha-mangalarati to Goddess Bhavani at around 3:00 PM.

In the evening, the Jagadguru commenced the Mahashivaratri Puja of Lord Chandramoulishwara at around 7:30 PM in Gurunivas that was overflowing with devotees from various parts of the country, and from abroad. The Jagadguru performed the Chaturyama Puja to Lord Chandramoulishwara. The Puja concluded by 7:00 AM the next day (28th February).

The Poornahuti of the Maharudra Yaga, that had commenced on 25th Feb 2014 , took place at noon in the divine presence of Jagadguru Mahaswamiji. This yaga was performed for the welfare of the humanity on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.

At approximately 10:30 am on 1st March 2014, Malahanikareshwara Rathotsava was conducted in the benign presence of the Jagadguru. The following day, Teppotsava took place.

  • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”. If people first feel that they are Indians and only then think of divisions, the nation will have great prosperity and the divisive forces will not be operative as they are today.
