Pattabhisheka day of the Jagadguru Celebrated


 


Poornahuti of Sahasra Narikela Ganapati Homa

The 24th anniversary of the Pattabhisheka of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham was celebrated at Sringeri on 24th October 2013. The Mahaswamiji had ascended the Vyakhyana Simhasana on Aashwayuja Krishna Panchami of the Shukla Samvatsara – 19th October 1989.

As part of the Celebrations, the Jagadguru first had Darshan of all temples in the morning. Sahasra Naarikela Homa was performed in the Jagadguru Sri Narasimha Bharati Yaga Shala, opposite the Goddess Sharada temple. CEO & Administrator Sri V R Gowrishankar undertook the Sankalpa for the Homa.

Special Abhisheka was performed to the Utsava Moorti of Goddess Sharada and Mahamangalarati took place in the Jagadguru’s presence. At around 12:30 pm, the Poornahuti of the Sahasra Naarikela Homa took place in the divine presence of the Jagadguru. A 12 hour nonstop Veena Vaadana program was also conducted in the temple.

In the afternoon, special Anna Santarpanam was performed by the Peetham for all the volunteers who served in the Bhojana Shala during the Navaratri function. In the evening, a public function was held in the Jagadguru’s presence. The Jagadguru blessed all the staff of the Peetham and the assembled devotees.

  • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”.
