The 63rd Vardhanti of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji was celebrated on 16th April 2013.

A day earlier, the Jagadguru offered special worship at the shrines of Lord Stambha Ganapati, Lord Malahanikareshwara and Goddess Bhavani at the hillock where the Malahanikareshwara temple is situated.
On Vardhanti, thousands of devotees had the fortune of having the early morning Anhika Darshan of the Jagadguru and performing Bhiksha Vandanam. The Jagadguru then paid His obeisances at the Adhishtanams of His Guru, Parmaguru and Parameshthi Guru and came over to the northen bank of the Tunga. The Jagadguru then had Darshan at all the temples and performed a special Puja to Goddess Sharada.
As part of the Celebrations, Laksha Modaka Ganapati Homa, Maharudra Yaga and Sahasrachandi Mahayaga were performed for the welfare of humanity. The Poornahutis of the Maharudra and Sahasrachandri Mahayaga took place in the Jagadguru’s presence on Vardhanti day and on April 18th respectively.

At night, the Jagadguru performed an elaborate Sharada Chandramoulishwara Puja with Panchamrita Abhisheka. Sri Rudram, Purusha Suktam, Narayana Suktam were chanted. The Jagadguru blessed all after the Mahamangalarati took place.

  • An object continues to be dear as long as one derives pleasure from it and it is detested for the duration that it causes pain. The same object cannot be always liked or disliked. Sometimes, that which is not dear may become dear. Moreover, that which was loveable can turn unpleasant. The Atma, towards which affection never wanes, is always the most beloved. • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”. If people first feel that they are Indians and only then think of divisions, the nation will have great prosperity and the divisive forces will not be operative as they are today.
