Koonanchery

Famed as Vakra-Nivritti-Puram in ancient times, this small hamlet near Swamimalai is known to have been the spot where Maharshi Ashtavakra, (who is known to have been a great Bhairava Upasaka) consecrated the Ashta-Bhairavas in eight Sivalingas and worshipped the eight lingas daily for the correction of eight deformities in his body. Devotees pray at this temple for progeny without congenital defects.

At this hallowed place, Prasada was distributed by Pune Sringeri Shankara Math after abhiseka and aradhana in the evening on the same day.
