With the beginning of Karkata (Aadi) masa, utsavasas and special poojas take place in most of the temples and at Sri Sringeri Math, following special Pujas and Homas will be conducted.

Gurupurnima & Vyasa Puja – Tuesday July 3, 2012; 10.30 AM.

Durga Puja

Durga Pooja will be performed on all Tuesdays and Fridays during Karkata (aadi) Maasa in the evenings at 7.00 pm.

  • Tuesdays: 17.7.12 , 24.7.12 , 31.7.12 , 7.8.12 and 14.8.12
  • Fridays: 20.7.12 , 27.7.12 , 3.8.12 and 10.8.12

Goddess Durga will be invoked in a Deepam and pooja will be performed in Goddess Saradambal Sannidhi. The Maha Deeparadhana will take place around 7.00 pm on these days.

Shravana Masa commences from the day after the amavasya of the aashada masa.  the somavaras of this auspicious month are considered to be very appropriate for the Sri Rudra upasana. The vrata anushtana on these days consists of sri rudra japa, abhisheka, archana and deepa aradhana.  This chaturanga seva to the accompaniment of vedic recitation is very efficacious in begetting the ishtaartha labha from sambha siva, who showers on his devotees his grace and fulfills their desires.

According to authoritative sources the story goes to mention that “durvasa” maharishi narrated in detail about the marriage of parvathi with sri rudra to mahalakshmi.  the same narration contains the mantra.
