Jagadguru Shankaracharya worships Bhagavan Sri Kalabhairava
on the occasion of Sri Kalabhairavashtami

Kalabhairava Ashtami was celebrated on the 18th of December 2011, the Margashira Bahula-Ashtami. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji arrived at the Kalabhairava hillock in Narasimhavanam at around 11:30 AM and after a ritual bath, commenced the puja at around 12:15 PM.

Bhagavan Sri Kalabhairava was worshipped in accordance with the Vedic traditions of Shodashopachara. The Jagadguru performed abhishekam to Bhagavan Sri Kalabhairava with pure water, milk, and Panchamrita to the sonorous chanting of Sri Rudram and other mantras by the Panditas of the Math aswell as students of Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala. The Puja concluded with the Mahamangalarati at around 2:30 PM.

Later the evening, Deepotsava was celebrated at the shrine in the august presence of the Jagadguru. The event also concluded with Maha-Mangalarati at around 7:30 PM.
