Under the direction of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the Peetham has launched a programme called the Shaankara Tattva Prasaara Abhiyaanam on 30th November 2009. The programme focuses on developing Upanyasakas to spread Advaita Vedanta with emphasis on Sri Adishankara Bhagavatpada’s works. The programme shall produce Upanyasakas who shall be trained in a 3 stage process. The first stage of the programme commenced in Sringeri on Gita Jayanti, 28th November with the Blessings of the Jagadguru. Held for 3 days, the first stage provides to the participants an overview of Advaita Vedanta & the life and works of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The Jagadguru blessed the gathering on 30th November and gave an Anugraha Bhashanam on how to give Upanyasas. CEO and Administrator, Sri V R Gowrishankar explained that the program is set to spread first across Karnataka and then to the other states. Program coordinator, Prof. Shikaripura Krishnamurti said that the first stage of the programme is set to be held in various places across Karnataka over the next few months.
