Jagadguru completes Chaturmasya at Sringeri


 

The Jagadguru completed the Chaturmasya Vrata on 4th September. The Jagadguru observed the Uma Maheshwara Vrata on the day, and later in the evening, crossed over to the northern bank of the Tunga and had Darshan at Goddess Sharada temple. Thereafter, the Jagadguru walked to the temple of Lord Malahanikareshwara situated on a nearby hillock, and had Darshan.


Special Pooja on Kedareswara Vratam

Earlier, a series of festivals during the Chaturmasya period, starting with the Shravana Somavara Pujas on 27-Jul, 03rd, 10th and 17th August,  Krishna Janmashtami(13th Aug), Vinayaka Chaturthi (23rd August) , Kedareshwara Vrata( 28th Aug), Vamana Jayanti (31st August), and Ananta Padmanabha Vrata (3rd September), were devoutly observed at Sringeri with the Jagadguru performing special Pujas. Ganapati was also worshipped at Pravachana Mandir on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi. The following day, the Ganapati idols were immersed in the river Tunga in the presence of the Jagadguru after the Chandramoulishwara Puja.

This year,  Swarna Gowri Vrata also happened to be on the same day as Vinayaka chaturti (23rd Aug) was observed at Sringeri in the Pravachana Mandiram. Many Suvasinis came to the Math from in and around Sringeri and offered worship.
